Weather condition information:

Winter season generally was good for bulb growing. The soil condition at moment of planting was good. Rainfall was rather high in some periods but it has not damaged the bulbs. Rooting condition of the bulbs seems good.

At this moment, we are in a very cold period. Wind from the North is bringing cool temperatures and some rain. It makes a slow start for the bulb growing, but this also is making very strong leaves and good leaf color. It looks like a good start for the bulbs, but not a very early season start.

On 11^th, 12^th and 13^th of April, we even had some show and hail. It is normal for early April, but there is always high risk for Hail damage to the fresh leaves of the plants. Fields in the sandy (South) area showed some hail damage. Northern fields did not show any damage.

Compared to 2020: April 2020 conditions very warm, already irrigation was needed in the first week of April. Root development was weak. Some water damage in the northern areas.

Overal, we feel that the 2021 growing season made a good start. Strong roots, good color and good soil conditions.

At this moment, growers are spraying the crop and checking for virus.

Virus conditions:

Several growers reported an increase of virus. It is more than 2020. We expect that there will be lot numbers cancelled due to high virus and rejection by BKD checking. Some Augusta disease showed in the clay soil areas.
